Dr Heather Wilkinson (MBBCh, MRCGP,FRACGP)
Heather was born in England where she completed her studies and qualified as a General Practitioner. Heather has extensive work experience having trained in Paediatrics, Gynaecology, Psychiatry and Accident and Emergency medicine. She relocated to Australia and moved to Geraldton in 2000 working at the Geraldton Aboriginal Medical Centre. In April 2002 Heather joined the University Medical Practice as a full-time partner. Due to family commitments in 2006 Heather started working at the practice on a part-time basis in order to take care of her two young children. Heather has a keen interest in all aspects of General Family Medicine and the challenges that go with it. She especially enjoys seeing young children and teen medicine.
Dr Bertel Bulten (MD, FRACGP)
Bertel is a graduate of the Nijmegen University (1991),The Netherlands and is a registered qualified General Practitioner of the Royal Dutch Medical Association. He enjoys all aspects of general medicine and is also interested in Aboriginal Health and Prison Health. He worked in the Netherlands in General Practice for 10 years and after a 'working holiday' in Carnarvon, Australia seduced him and his wife and three children; they came out to WA early 2008. So far he was only found once driving on the right side of the road. In his spare time he entertains his family with singing classical music, tries to read books, rides his bicycle daily, visits the gym and attempts to (wind)surf, to snorkel and to drive his 4WD as a 4WD.
Dr Aubrey James Francis (BSc, MBChB, MFGP)
Aubrey is a graduate of the University of Capetown and a member of the Faculty of GP’s at this university. He has 41 years experience as a GP with special interest in family medicine, men’s health, relaxation therapy and wellness. Leisure pursuits include cycling, golf, windsurfing, Italian opera and, of course a glass of ‘fine red’. He also dabbles in watercolors which compliments his wife’s quilting, who after years of working beside him, has now retired to pursue her passion full-time.
Dr Edwin Kruys (MD, FRACGP)
Edwin Kruys is a graduate of the University of Amsterdam (2000), The Netherlands, and is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Edwin has a special interest in travel medicine and is a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine and the South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society. Edwin has worked in WA, Queensland, The Netherlands and Kenya. In his spare time Edwin likes playing guitar & piano. He is also responsible for this web site.
Kathleen Slootmans Practice Manager
Kathleen originally spent 16 years of her career as an Administrator for the University of Cape Town in South Africa before immigrating to New Zealand were she worked as a Bookkeeper for the tourist industry for 5 years. She relocated to Geraldton in 2005 and accepted the position of Practice Manager for UMP in 2006.
Symonne Rathjen Registered Nurse
Symonne has nursed mainly in rural remote settings, being married to a farmer. Her main areas of nursing have been family healthcare, accident and emergency, RFDS transfers and childhood immunisations. Symonne joined UMP in 2007 as their RN. At present she is furthering her studies in asthma, diabetes and the FPWA Pap Smear Course.
Helen Pollard Enrolled Nurse
Helen completed her training in the UK and has worked at the University Medical Practice since it opened in 2001. She participates in the health care plans, asthma and diabetes education as well as works in our treatment room.
